Oyster Festival Imagine…65,000 pounds of oysters! That’s right! Two tractor- trailer loads full of single select oysters will roll into Boone Hall Plantation for the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association’s Annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival supported by the Town of Mt. Pleasant. There will be lots of activities on the main stage and other activities including the Oyster Shucking Contest – shuck the most oysters in a designated time period and you’re the winner. The Oyster Eating Contest rewards the person who eats the most oysters. The Oyster Recipe contest winner will be announced and the “kids area” will feature a “Best Dressed Oyster Contest” along with lots of games and activities.

The Campground Massacre haven’t been comfortable walking in a campground after dark since Jason Voorhees stalked scantily clad teeny boppers through Camp Crystal Lake. And never has that been more the case than at the Fort Mill KOA, just across the South Carolina border from Charlotte, NC. Chitlin Strut This internationally known festival is located in the quiet, southern town of Salley, South Carolina and is held annually the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Quite simply, chitterlings (or chitlin's) are fried pig intestines and have been a southern tradition for over one-hundred years. Many of the traditional activities that make up the Chitlin' Strut include the parade, hawg-calling and strut contests, food and craft vendors, beauty pageant and carnival rides. So come on out and try some of them chitlin's! Okay, well if you don't want to try the chitlin's, we won't hold it against you! But you can't say you've been to the world famous Chitlin' Strut until we see ya!
